"Mexican Retablo Dedicated to Saint Therese of Lisieux"
This sweet little Saint Therese is painted on a rustic piece of thin tin (just like they love to paint on in Old Mexico!) and a hole is already punched & a raffia hanger attached so that she is ready to display the moment you receive her!
A collection of retablos looks so fabulous on any wall ~ which is just how they decorate their casa in Mexico! Retablos fill the wall! Dedicated to all the various saints!
I enjoy so much painting retablos ~ my particular favourites are Saint Francis (patron of Peace & Animals), Virgen de Guadalupe, and San Pasqual Bailon (the kitchen saint). I usually have several of these available in my store always! Sometimes they are painted on tin, but often on canvas, wood or ceramic tile! Whatever my mood is at the time!
Muchos Gracias for your time & please stop by my estudio anytime to see what I am working on next! RoMy

Southwest ~ Mexican Folk Art Painting ~ RoMy
Title: "Colonia Colorida" (Colourful Colony)
Size: 40"x32" ~ AWESOME SIZE CANVAS!!!
Hola! Muchos Gracias for stopping by my Terlingua Art Studio near Terlingua Ghost Town & Big Bend National Park along the border of Old Mexico! For your consideration today I am offering this original painting:
DESCRIPTION It is a sunrise setting in this "Colonia Colorida" in Old Mexico ~ the rooster is crowing and everybody is already up early and moving about on such a beautiful day! The pretty senoritas are dressed in their brightest and most lovely dresses ~ and the handsome hombres find these senoritas very, very attractive, of course! One senorita is playing outdoors with her little kitty cat, and another is watering the spring flowers she just planted in her new Talavera pot. One of the hombres is off to fill his wooden buckets with water from the river which flows through this Mexican colony. And there at the river a little fisherman hauls in his catch as his dog watches in awe (from the opposite side of the river) at the size of the big fish his owner just caught! This is a VERY LARGE work of art ~ almost 4 feet high! And nearly 3 feet wide! It measures 40"x32" and will spendidly decorate any wall on which it is placed ~ whether it is in your casa or place of work. Also, there are so many colours in this piece (pink, red, turquoise, blue, purple, gold, desert tan and yellow) that it will easily go with most any colour scheme! This special piece is a labour of love as anyone can see from the many intricate details ~ the tiny rooster in the face of the sun, the chili ristra by the front door of one of the casas, the cacti and potted plants, and even the fish swimming in the river! And what a great opportunity this is for the right buyer to add to his or her collection of Mexican Folk Art! And a perfect time to start a collection (if you haven't already) as Mexican Folk Art is quite popular now ~ and increasing in value with time. Please Note: Colours may vary according to different computer monitors.
ABOUT THIS PIECE This Mexican Folk Art painting is an ORIGINAL work of art, brightly painted with acrylics on gallery-wrapped, professionally stretched canvas measuring 40" x 32". This premier frame is also cross braced and has sturdy, precisely tailored corners and the canvas is tight with clean, staple-free edges ~ all four sides are painted ~ this piece can be beautifully displayed as quickly as you receive it!. There is a hanger on the back - when you receive this artwork all you need to do is place it in your special area! Also, this piece has been finished with several coats of non-yellowing acrylic varnish to protect and enhance its beauty for many years to come.
ABOUT THE ARTIST The front of this painting is signed by the artist and the back is also signed, dated (2009) and titled. By the way the artist "Romy" - that's me! I live on the border between Texas and Old Mexico ~ near the Big Bend National Park ~ a few miles from Terlingua Ghost Town ~ and I love the history and culture of this area ~ a raw, still quite primitive land ~ a desert land where "rainbows wait for rain." The last few photos in this description show my outdoor studio which faces Santa Elena Canyon and the Rio Grande, the natural border between Old Mexico and Texas ~ and it is from this primitive setting ~ 80 miles from town ~ that I find most of my inspiration for painting. (in the photos Mexico is on the left side of the river and Texas is on the right)
I enjoyed the visit ~ Gracias! And, please while you are here take a moment to see my other pieces of art ~ I have several large paintings this same size. I also have a variety of other sizes painted on canvas, tin, ceramic tile and wood. If you are a collector of Mexican Folk Art paintings ~ Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) ~ Mexican Exvoto Retablos ~ Latin American/Spanish Folk Art or Southwest Folk Art ~ please bookmark my store as I specialize in these areas!

Hola! Muchos Gracias for stopping by my Terlingua Art Studio near the Ghost Town & Big Bend National Park (Texas) & Old Mexico! For your consideration I am offering this original painting:
DESCRIPTION
This is a very whimsical painting of a little cowgirl "wanna-be"! She is giving her all as she whoops and rides this really wild & wooly pig!! "Sometimes ya just gotta ride whatever life gives ya!! " is her philosophy! Lots of beautiful colours in this piece ~ turquoise-green, gold, red, blue. This little cowgirl ~ she's so gutsy! ~ is wearing lovely pink cowgirl boots and a matching bandana. There is a sliver of a pink moon and stars, too! A darling piece of southwestern folk art! This painting is a must have for any lover of cowgirl art! And it will add a charming touch of the Wild West to any home! Or office workplace! And what a great addition to the rest of your collection of "tiny tins" ~ which I happen to have several of at auction this week!
ABOUT THIS PAINTING
This Southwest ~ Texas folk art painting is an ORIGINAL work of art, brightly painted with acrylics on a piece of thin TIN which makes it especially charming and very folk artsy (tin is a most popular medium to paint on in Old Mexico) plus its durability makes it ideal for indoor and outdoor decorating such as a backporch or patio area. Also, this piece, which is 8" x 6 1/4", has been finished with a non-yellowing acrylic enamel to protect and enhance its beauty for years to come. There are two holes punched in the top and it comes with a copper wire hanger already attached so that it can be displayed & immediately enjoyed once you receive it! The back of this painting is signed by the artist, titled, and dated (2009).
This RoMy ORIGINAL TINY TIN (TM) is small but sweet ~ simply "feel good" art! And highly collectible! They look wonderful on any wall (just hang a collection of them and cover an entire wall!) but are also nicely displayed with the hanger hooked over the knob on a cupboard door ~ or remove the hanger if you like and place them on a windowsill, a bookshelf, a fireplace mantle.... Also, they make fabulous gifts!!

Title: La Monja Colorida (The Colourful Nun)
Size: 40"x32" ~ AWESOME SIZE PAINTING!!!
DESCRIPTION
"La Monja Colorida" (The Colourful Nun) is a most unique painting! There are many nuns here at this mission in Old Mexico ~ but only the one whimsical little nun "Lydia" ~ dares to express herself with bold, beautiful colours from the bountiful palette of her Higher Power ~ The One Great Original Artist of All.
Lydia is dressed in lovely shades of purple and red, and tiny flowers are embroidered around her neck and hemline. In her hands is a small Talavera cross. And be sure and notice the little red shoes on her feet! Next to Lydia is Rafael ~ her pet burro. And all around the mission there are always lots of black crows! The mission is topped with a black cross and in the background is a vibrant yellow sun tinged with gold. This mission is a wonderful blend of colours and the desert landscape is dotted with agave and ocotillo.
This is a VERY LARGE work of art that will spendidly decorate any wall on which it is placed ~ whether it is in your home or place of work. This special piece is a great opportunity for the right buyer to add to his or her collection of Southwest ~ Mexican Folk Art! And what a perfect time to start a collection (if you haven't already) as Mexican Folk Art is quite popular now ~ and increasing in value with time.
